straight from the workshops of Greek artists in Crete and mainland Greece. Most of the items are produced in very small
workshops that are manned by only a couple of people - usually a husband and
wife team – who use traditional techniques and are passionate about their work.
 Bronze Statues
Our Greek bronze statues are made in a small workshop on the island of Crete,
using sand casting, a bronze casting technique that has been utilized since
ancient times. To form the bronze
statues the craftsman pours molten bronze into a kiln-fired sand mold. Once the mold is cooled it is removed; the fine
details of the cast bronze piece are then carefully finished by hand.
Many of our bronze statues, including the Discus Thrower, Greek Horses,
Corinthian Helmets, Snake Goddess, Satyr (fertility god or Pan), are museum
replicas. They are typically only sold
in local tourist shops and their production is limited; because of this, they
make very unique gifts.
Religious Icons
Our Religious Icons or hagiographies, are stunning depictions of Jesus, Panagia (Holly
Mother) and Saints, which are carefully worked according to the style
and the criteria required by the Greek Orthodox Religious Art (Iconography) School of
Agion Oros. Each Icon is an original and comes with an Authenticity
Certificate.
Women in ancient Greece wore a lot of Jewelry. Often Jewelry indicated a woman's wealth and status. Jewelry were made from precious and se mi-precious stones, gold and silver. Many unearthed pieces of jewelry are exibited in the Meuseums in Greece and it is "a must see" when you visit Greece.
